BLANKNYC Suede Moto Jacket (additional color here)
▪ A reader wrote to say that the BLANKNYC Suede Moto Jacket, which I love (and is 40% off at Bloomingdale's), has been restocked in select colors and sizes.

▪ At last, Kate Spade has found a buyer.

▪ I really enjoyed this Bloomberg piece on Walmart's (most important? last?) stand against Amazon; I find the bromance between Lore and McMillon fascinating. Why can't we all be introduced to the CEO of Walmart, become instant bffs with him, convince him to acquire our 15-month-old startup for $3.3 billion, and pay us a (non-performance based) salary 10x what he makes.

▪ If you are still shopping for last-minute Mother's Day presents, check your inbox for unique Saks discounts. Here are a few codes for those of you who are non-subscribers: SAKSEWAVK5CN (20% off); SAKSEV2ZQM9Y (15% off); and SAKSEV4V7CVQ (15% off). Use code MOMRUSH for free rush shipping until 05/10 at 6PM.

▪ Fake mews alert?! The headline of this article assumes the conclusion is cut and dried: "Empirical Evidence: Cats Love People." Before you celebrate, you should note that the experiment cited studied only 38 cats. I remain doubtful that it could be replicated and produce similar results.

Sears is everyone's favorite to win "retailer mostly likely to plunge into the abyss."

▪ My first reaction to "How Fidget Spinners Became a Hula Hoop for Generation Z" is... what exactly are fidget spinners? My interest in the subject is so lacking that despite having read dozens of headlines with the word "fidget spinner" in them, I still haven't the faintest idea why people use them. If you are in the same boat, I found this Vox explainer helpful.

Sale styles at LOFT are an extra 40% off, no code needed. Some picks: Flutter Lace Dress, Swing Sweater, Textured Collarless Blazer, Floral Medallion Shift Dress, and Textured Shirttail Sweater.

▪ Trending now: stories about rich people who consider themselves poor. (Seriously, this is the fourth such article I've read in two weeks.)

▪ Also trending: how might Trump be removed from office?

How far is too far when it comes to donut innovations? I draw my line at spaghetti donut.

Maple, free cookie (and "good simple food") purveyor, shuts down after two years and $20+ million in venture capital. I would never criticize a startup that turned venture capital money into 25 tons of free cookies. Your intentions were noble, Maple.

▪ Be sure to browse Rebecca Minkoff's online sample sale, where many designs in spring colors are up to 70% off. Some picks: Quilted Affair Bag, Florence Top Handle Crossbody, Hudson Moto Mini, M.A.B. Camera Bag, and Mini M.A.C. Crossbody.

▪ A family friend who is about a decade older than me used to regale me with stories related to his corporate expense account, and the frequent flyer miles accrued from traveling for work. I thought of him (and other corporate travelers who exploit their expense accounts to the fullest extent) when I read this Bloomberg piece on how new services have sprung up to incentivize and convince employees to be more frugal when booking travel.

▪ I strongly dislike the idea of a story that attempts to thread the gig economy into "institutional liberalism," but this New Yorker piece covered the topic well. Definitely a worthwhile read if you are interested in the sharing economy.

▪ I have long been perplexed by the popularity of Gudetama (aptly described as a melancholy cartoon egg yolk), and this Vox video helped me understand the phenomenon better. Hearing his voice really helps. I think I am now a fan too.

▪ Recently purchased: J.O.A. Tiered Off the Shoulder Top, Halogen Ruffle Sleeve Shift Dress, Eliza J Off the Shoulder Sheath Dress, and Leith Ruched Body-Con Tank Dress.

Have a great week, all!
