Soft Hues

October 04, 2015

The chill of fall air finally forced me out of a state of inertia; I spent the better part of the weekend unpacking boxes of wool and flannel (maybe I'm just forgetful but this process gives me the same thrill that discovering something really good in-store does).

While I dread another snowmageddon, I have missed the cozy knits that come with the season. Sweater dresses, blanket scarves, and oversized ponchos, to me, are all just socially acceptable outdoor sleeved blankets.

I wore some iteration of this outfit every week last winter with booties (because safety comes first) and plan to execute the same strategy this year. For additional warmth in the dead of winter, I normally wear a Uniqlo Heattech turtleneck underneath, which doesn't add bulk but makes a substantial difference in insulating one's body from the cold.
I plan to share a few outerwear reviews this month as I prepare for the winter. Please share your recommendations if you have any (new or old) favorites that are available again this season.
