When in doubt, give something useful like Amazon Prime or Netflix. For book lovers, Kindle Unlimited, Scribd, and Oyster are all good options.
My favorite Cyber Monday deal has been brought back for last-minute Christmas shoppers: two complimentary slices of cake from the Cheesecake Factory with every $25 e-gift card purchased. I may or may not have gotten like $1000 in gift cards on CM (I really like cake, especially when they are free-ish).
If you are able to give a gift in person, the mall (or any brick and mortar store) is your best bet. Online shopping, while convenient, isn't without risk. If you care enough to order something at the last minute to make a deadline and can find time to visit a store, buying something in person should be your first option. Retailers like Bloomingdale's offers pick up service for online orders.
Happy shopping and good luck!
