Orange + Mint

May 07, 2014

Closet purges are a necessary evil and they offer cathartic pleasures for a (clothes) hoarder like me. I rediscovered a few older pieces during one such purge, including this formerly well-loved orange H&M top that hasn't received much attention recently, and gave myself a one-month ultimatum to either re-wear them or donate them.
Burberry London Mottram Trench | H&M Blouse (similar) | J. Crew Sterling Skirt in Double-Serge Wool | Prada Saffiano Lux Double-Zip Tote | Miu Miu Taupe Pumps (similar)
I'll leave you all with "Happy" (link contains audio/video) because this song has such an ameliorating effect on mid-week blues (for an additional pick-me-up, read this extremely sweet proposal story; how cute are they?!)

  1. What a great color combination! I see mint paired with pastels everywhere I look. This is a nice change.

  2. I've got to be the only one who can't stand "Happy". *ducks head* However, I LOVE "Let It Go"... still haven't seen the movie though.

Love, love this color combo on you, Elle! Both are colors that are sorely missing from my closet. Hmm, time to update my wishlists!

    1. haha, that's because UVA hasn't made its own Happy video yet. I was kind of lukewarm about the song until I saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjAWUcUN3jQ (ah, to be young)

And I have too much mint in my closet, let me know if I can send some your way. :D

  3. Gorgeous color combination! I like your one month ultimatum idea. I thought I purged a lot last year, but I still have a few emotional hoards. I keep them thinking I will eventually use my sewing machine and make new creations out of them.

    1. I know emotional hoards well; they are really difficult to discard because I just KNOW I will wear them, either after I accidentally lose or gain some weight. :)

  5. That minty green color makes me happy! So fresh. Is it the same as the jcrew factory "spearmint"? Love!

    1. The original color name of this skirt is "Sheer Mint" and I believe it has less blue in its composition than the JCF "Spearmint." :)

Also, how busy does your local new HMart get? Want to stop by when I am in town next but don't love crowds.

  6. I just wore the same blouse yesterday (also after not being worn for months)! I have it in both white and orange, and they're both nearing the end of their lifespan and they were well worn before. I have the same skirt as well and never thought of pairing the two together, thanks for the inspiration, I think it looks great!

    1. Thanks, Celena! Wearing orange and mint together is not an intuitive decision, imo, but they go surprisingly well together. :)

  10. That orange colour is delicious. I can see why it was previously so well-loved! I forget about clothes all the time too; I should probably start wearing some of my older things!
