Black Tote

May 25, 2014

This skirt was another item rediscovered during the closet purge mentioned in this post. I've, on numerous occasions, attempted to wear it differently from how it was originally modeled (with a denim shirt) but never thought my combinations were especially inspiring.

When I bought the skirt, I did not think it would be as challenging as it has been (for me) to wear creatively. I think I need to put more potential closet additions through the WIFW wringer.
Forever 21 Boxy Crop Top (similar) | Hermes Reversible Belt | Ann Taylor  Modern Classic Pearl & Chain Necklace | J. Crew Collection Silk Crepe de Chine Skirt in Shoe Sketch | c/o Chicwish Side Zippers Tote Bag in Black | Kate Spade New York Licorice Metallic Leather Pump (similar)

For those looking for a more affordable alternative to Ann Taylor's Gallery Tote, Chicwish offers a similar bag in black for less than $45 (with the first purchase / 30% off promotion). Both retailers used polyurethane to construct the bag but the Chicwish version looks less structured and is more inclined to expand laterally.

The Chicwish bag also comes with a detachable zippered pouch which aids organization but reduces capacity.
Ann Taylor is having another amazing timed sale; until tomorrow, take 70% off all sale items with code FLASH70.

  1. I love how you styled it here, especially combining it with another casual item (crop top) and then pulling it all together in a classy look with accessories. I could see it with a long-sleeved slim-cut top, maybe in a color, for another look - maybe more evening-appropriate that way.
