A Uniform (and My Closet Must-Haves)

February 05, 2014

I rescued these pictures from blogging limbo in an attempt to stem a lousy habit of hoarding drafts of potential posts. I mean to include a review of the Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram Neverfull (don't click at work or in class; link leads to LV's website where there is sound) with the post but decided to postpone that discussion for a later date.

For all my carping about conspicuous logos being tacky, the unassailable truth is that...yes, I am also kind of a stickler for certain brands despite my vehement insistence of the opposite. I'll save my existential quandary for another day but have to admit that I am kind of enjoying this bag aside from its oppressive ubiquity.
Zipia Crossover Tuxedo Style Shirt | Burberry London Westland Trench (similar here and  here) | Gap 1969 Legging Jeans (this year's version) | Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram Neverfull MM Tote | Via Spiga Bethany Knee-High Boot in Chestnut Leather
So I practically lived in this outfit (or some variation of it) for a few weeks in late fall; while it's not the most innovative of outfits, I always felt modish (enough) in it.

Once in a while I would get requests from recent graduates or those looking to build (or rebuild) their wardrobes for a list of fashion items I consider "essentials." And I guess this outfit is what my essentials boil down to: a light-colored trench, a blouse with a fun twist, medium-washed denim, comfortable boots, and a roomy tote in a versatile color or print. Everything worn here can be worn very differently outside of it.

I guess that's the definition of a classic.
For those of you battling Nika today, happy snow day!

    1. I didn't think I would ever jump on the Neverfull bandwagon but personalization is such a powerful magnet. :)
