Everlane Rounded Collar Silk Blouse

January 30, 2014

Strangely, or I suppose it's just seasonable, whenever I wear this ensemble to lunch, a snow storm would descend upon an otherwise forecast-to-be-dry day. Sure, it'd be cold (maybe it's punishment for my dressing so inappropriately for the weather) but there would be no other indications of precipitation.

But I am really tired of the snow so this ensemble will not be repeated for another year.
c/o Everlane Rounded Collar Silk Blouse (available in 14 colors) | Ann Taylor Modern Classic Pearl & Chain Necklace | Burberry London Westland Trench | Satin Skirt, a gift from SewPetiteGal | J. Crew Cashmere-lined Leather Gloves (this year's version here) | Ann Taylor Tweed Clutch | Kate Spade New York Licorice Metallic Leather Pumps
And I am really excited to share this Everlane silk blouse with rounded collar with you all. It is by far the best white blouse I own (and I own many) and is no worse off, quality-wise, than pricier Equipment blouses (will write a post comparing the two).

The rounded collar, of which I am an impassioned fan, is an equitable compromise between a traditional pointed collar and the more youthful peter pan collar.

The blouse in white is semi-sheer but with flesh-toned undergarments, sheerness is a nonissue (it's probably difficult to gauge opaqueness from these pictures; I was wearing tan thermals under the blouse).
For those of you similar to me in size, the blouse in XS fit me without glaring fit issues (sleeves can stand to be shortened slightly) and should transition work and weekend wear well.

This blouse is available with pointed collars (11 colors) and banded collars (14 colors) as well, if those styles suit you better.
And this outfit is not possible without my favorite blog friends: the reviews of trusty Jean (necklace and shoes) and Cee (clutch and blouse) and the generosity of S (while this is the skirt's first blog feature, it has been worn repeatedly to pretty much any occasion that calls for a touch of sheen).

  4. First, I love this look on you. I bet it was freezing, but that picture when with the snow falling is magical. Second, I'm so happy to see you review the Everlane blouse! I've been eyeing it for ages, but haven't pulled the trigger. How does silk quality compare with Jcrew silk? I love the look of the blythe blouses but the silk is horrible - so thin and prone to pulls/tears. Will you do a blouse alone, front and side view sometime? Thank you!!

    1. It was pretty cold; I would not in good faith recommend that anyone else in the NE dress this way (I am just slightly cuckoo). The Everlane silk appears a notch higher in quality compared to J. Crew but is not substantially heavier in weight. A more thorough review is in the pipeline but I've neglected the blog for some time because of all the good Cambridge eats you recommended. And I am sorry we never got ice cream like I suggested...I'll be back later this year for another extended stay so we'll have to catch up then! :)

    3. I REALLY enjoyed your recommendations (perhaps too much; I may or may not have visited Flour every day and cleaned out their cookie supply). And yes, let's invite Jean too; she is a consistently delightful addition to any gathering. :D

  5. thank you SO much for reviewing the everlane blouse. i've been hemming and hawing about whether or not to get it as i was concerned about its sheerness and fit for a petite lady. on a somewhat random note, i did get the everlane reverse denim backpack for my husband and it's perfect. and also cheaper than a silk blouse :P

    1. What colors are you considering? The white is definitely not as sheer as you might expect and would make a good three-season piece. I'll talk more about fit and quality in a separate post (probably not for a few weeks though) so if I can answer any questions in the meantime, just let me know.

And good to know that Everlane backpacks are worthwhile...I was considering those as potential gifts. :)

    2. was interested in white and also nude with the black contrasting stripe (although it appears all the contrast stripe styles are gone now :( ).

  11. I love the shirt, the skirt, and the necklace, the pump....May i ask where you get the tan thermal? Does it hide pretty well under silk shirt? I would like to wear my silk shirt in cold weather but hate to pack additional layer underneath.

    1. Sure, the tan thermal is from Uniqlo. It's very form fitting so it isn't very obvious under the shirt. The shirt hides the layers moderately well but let me take some pictures and get back to you about which kinds of layers work best under white silk shirts. :)
