OOTD featuring H&M Orange Circle Midi Skirt & J. Crew Bubble Necklace, now $89.99 plus 40% off

January 18, 2012

Midi-length circle skirts are, in theory, supposed to be especially unflattering on petite girls with muscular calves. After all, they sometimes cut off the leg line at the widest point of the calf and create the illusion that one's legs are bigger than they are.

I bought this skirt on a whim last month after seeing it in the sale section at my local H&M. I loved the color and the shape but wasn't sure that I could pull off such an awkward length.

MbMJ coat, H&M top & skirt (similar in green), Ziginy shoes, and See by Chloe bag

Truthfully speaking, I think I can find more flattering skirts out there but I am always a sucker for the diversification of my wardrobe. This skirt is a keeper for me and I hope when the weather warms up in a few months time I'll be able to give this skirt the attention it deserves.

(pictures obviously taken a few weeks ago when it's not in the single digits and snowy outside; sigh, spring can't come soon enough!)

J. Crew's bubble necklace is a fairly representative piece for the J. Crew jewelry collection. I've been a fan of the oversized necklace since its first appearance a few years back but what I am not a fan of is its hefty price tag ($150!). While there is no shortage of ebay knockoffs (and even one fairly attractive option from H&M a few months ago), I've mostly been interested in J. Crew's version.

My local store sold out of the red and black versions weeks ago and the spring colors didn't appeal to me the same way that more mature red and black did. Imagine my surprise when I read on Gigi's blog that the red has been marked down to $89.99 in stores (still full price online! Also available on NAP). With the extra 40% off going on in stores I didn't hesitate in picking up my phone and calling the J. Crew customer service line to place a "we will find it" order. Within an hour I received a confirmation from J. Crew stating that my item has been found and that it will be on its way to me within two days.

I am not sure if the bubble necklace is still a coveted item after all this time but for those of you who have been admiring it from afar but was put off by its price, now's the perfect time to pick up this versatile piece for your jewelry collection.
