Red Chanel Dilemma

August 11, 2010

I am in the market for a red Chanel flap in caviar skin...either a m/l or a jumbo.

On the one hand, I think the jumbo would suit my lifestyle better as I like to haul everything everywhere. On the other hand, I think the jumbo wouldn't be appropriate for evening activities.

Petite ladies love jumbos though and can really work them. Just look at MK and Nicole.

The UGH factor in this whole thing is that while I love Chanel...their price increases have become ridiculous...the price gouging practice ought to be criminal. In any case, this would be my last bag purchase for a long while so I want to make sure that I make all of the right decisions.

I believe the red in stores now is a darker red. I loved the 10C colors but I believe those are not available anymore.

Any input?

  1. Have you seen my red Chanel? If not, check her out here:

It's the fall '09 red, m/l flap in caviar. I think it's the perfect size for me...any bigger and I'd be swamped by handbag. If you're bigger than me, you can probably pull off the jumbo. I havn't looked at the new 2010 colors, since now that I have my baby, I've put a stop to lusting over expensive handbags, at least for a little while. =)

  2. Yes, I have seen (and loved!) your fall09 red. I am hoping for something lighter in color though, which is why the 10c red would have been perfect.

I think the more practical choice would be the m/l flap but, as I mentioned in the post, I love bringing lots of things everywhere. I think I can work the jumbo as I am not really that petite (5'2 and about 100 pounds).

I love when you accessorize and pose with your red Chanel flap though. :)

  3. Since you are 5'2" you could probably pull off the jumbo, but I still think it looks HUGE on those celebs above. I am also irked by the price hikes. I was calling around last week asking for my coveted gray small or medium flap and was told mediums are now $3400? I hope I mis-heard...
